Abstract | Intisari

The characteristics of each component of the aircraft are different, such as the Helicopter Bell 429 igniter which functions to spark sparks for combustion in the combustion chamber. This requires components to be heat resistant and high hardness. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition, microstructure and hardness of the igniter, so chemical composition, microstructure and hardness were tested. This study uses quantitative research methods, namely the use of some quantitative data obtained from the internet, literature, and journals to be processed in a table with the results of testing the Chemical Composition, Microstructure and Vickers Hardness on the Helicopter Bell 429 igniter. Testing the Chemical Composition of the Helicopter Bell 429 igniter, showed that iron (Fe)= 82.51% and chromium (Cr)=15.52% were the dominant elements and therefore included Fe-Cr alloy elements. The results of the Vickers hardness test are point 1 = 138.53 VHN, point 2 = 138.15 VHN, point 3 = 137.71 VHN, and the average hardness = 138.13 VHN. The Fe-Cr alloy has a Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) of 138.53 VHN, this value is obtained from the total percentage of iron (Fe) of 82.51% and chromium (Cr) of 15.52%. Therefore, the hardness of the PW207D igniter is high due to the addition of several elements that help the properties of the main element. This also helps the components function properly to spark sparks in the combustion chamber and the location of the components also which always receive high heat temperatures and receive high pressure will not affect the PW207D igniter components.
